Preliminary task

This was the first time we went to film. Our preliminary task conveys the genre of chick flick because the setting is in a toilet and also we are talking about boys. (Ergh). The girl is crying because she broke up with her boyfriend and her friend is comforting her, however, there is another girl in the toilet who is a tad harsh and showing no emotion to her heartbreak. We followed the guidelines of 180 degrees rule and conformed to the generic conventions.

Individual evaluation of my work

Planning target:

My planning target would be to be more organized in the planning side of the practical tasks. So for example, I would plan before hand and sort out the setting and where I would do the filming. Being more organized, I can keep a folder and notes.

Also, my storyboarding can do with improving; I can do this by drawing I can use photos instead.   As I am not very good at drawing, I just need to learn the camera shots and what it emphasizes.

Filming target:

My filming target would be to keep the shots more accurate and the camera steadier. I can take out the camera during the weekend. I also need to get the hang of always using a tri-pod when I am filming; however some stuff I do not need the tri pod for.

Editing target:

My editing target would be to get to grips with the numerous types of transitions. I know the basics to editing, however if my group and me want to achieve a high grade, we will have to learn the more of the technical side to editing. I can only improve my editing by playing around with final cut pro. One day after school, I can come and do this.

Plan a better storyboard

In order to achieve a well-prepared and organized opening. I must use a variety of camera shots appropriate for the opening I will achieve this target by revising what type of camera shots there are, and also create costume that have useful connotations for the scene and characters.

Editing targets: 
I must improve on my editing skills by thinking of ways to make the title for example, much more creative. For instance I could spend time using the software after school in order to learn more ways to use Borris to my advantage.

Filming targets:

I need be able to get familiar with the camera settings so it’s less time consuming when I go out to film. I will spend an hour every Friday with my group to discover the camera functions. 

Farzana's targets

Planning targets: 
My planning targets would be to storyboard better in terms of drawing a more fluent sequence. This was a problem when it came to filming because on camera it didn’t look right when one scene jumped to another. Another target for story boarding would be to use the correct colors to represent the genre.

Filming target:
My filming target would be to keep the camera steady and focus on the correct framing for effect. I will do this by booking a camera on a weekend and do some practice filming in order for me to get familiar with the camera and frame the correct shots.

Editing targets: 
My editing target would be to for the title font and color to be more relative to the genre of the film for emphasis. I will spend more time deciding what colors and effects introduce the genre more. Another editing target is to use fade in and fade out more relevantly.

Main coursework task

We will be producing the titles and opening of a new fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes. Our chosen genre is chick flick.
