Evaluation of filming. Thursday 22nd

Today we went filming. We knew that no one in our class was ready to do filming and me, Samira and Farzana wanted to be ahead of everyone, and just have the filming completed so after the holidays we can concentrate on editing our footage as that is our weakest point. The meeting we had the Saturday before in the idea store, everyone agreed that we will be free on the following Thursday as the majority of us have not got college and are on holidays. Tuesday was the last day of college so it was the last day we could book the camera and tripod out. Samira and Farzana waited for Miss Georgio while she gave them a camera. However, Miss said just to charge the camera and we should be fine, she also gave us a fresh tape. I was really excited about filming as we were actually doing it and were not in the long planning process anymore.The night before I called everyone just to remind them. Everything was still on track. However, a dress that one of the actresses was going to wear, someone else had it, and I asked her for it ever since but she did not give it. This made me feel really annoyed as I take my work very seriously and everything has to be perfect. I did not let this get me down and decided as a group that the actress should wear an alternative to that dress. 
This morning, our schedule was to wake up at 7am and leave the house by 8:30am so we would get to Westfield by 9:00am before it starts getting really busy. Clearly not everything goes according to plan and we was running late. So I called Ruhel, Samira and Farzana and told them to definitively be there by 9:30am. 

I took pictures of the actress before her make up was done. She will kill me for posting this up but I wanted to show the drastic transformation. 

This is Aysha who is the sporty girl in the opening of the film. I wanted to take many more pictures but my camera charger was lost, I was very annoyed as I searched high and low for it. 
Finally we left my house and made ways to Westfield. Samira and Farzana was already waiting for us outside the station, so we was just waiting on Ruhel now to arrive. 
While we was waiting for Ruhel, we thought we would use this time productively and go ask in Boots and Superdrugs if we can film there. We was not allowed as the manager was not there and we did not get permission. Nevertheless our spirits were still high as we would change the department store setting to the girls toilets. We went into Claires accessories and purchased three bracelets which are the same so the girls have that bond between them. 

At last Ruhel arrived. He was very unwell but still made the effort to come and film. I was very grateful so we just wanted to film Ruhels clip so he could go home and rest. 
At last, we got to filming as everyone was here. But to our groups dissapointment the camcorder which we booked out from college was not working. So we played around with it for a bit hoping it would switch on, but it didnt. So we went into carphone warehouse and asked if we could charge the camcorder in their socket. The manager was extremely friendly and said yes. So we waited for about half an hour but still no luck. Next door was Currys and PC World so we decided to go in there and get professional advice on what is wrong with tha camcorder. The sales assistant said that the camera was dropped and it would not work. This made me, Samira and Farzana feel angry as well very low. We did not want to break the news to the the actors and actresses as they was waiting a long time for us and agreed to do this out of the goodness of their hearts. They took the news very well, and were more upset for us as we were the ones who were overjoyed to be filming. We are going to plan another day of filming, when everyone is free once again. Most probably after the Christmas and new years shopping rush. 
Farzana will come into college and book out another camera, a working one this time! 
In conclusion, we learnt a lot from today. It was all about making mistakes so we would not repeat it a second time. Next time we film, we would know exactly what to do so everything will be running smoothly.

Humidity, visibility and pressure

This was the weather forecast for today, I checked before hand to make sure it was not going to rain other wise we would not be able to film outside, for the establishing shots of Westfield. Seeing as we did not get any filming done, this was still very good as it shows my organisational skills. 

Meeting in the idea store discussing; setting, props and costume

On Saturday, our group members had a meeting with everyone that will be in our film opening. This helped a lot as we discussed the set roles the girls will have and what they will be wearing. Due to the fact that the actresses will all be best friends, we made them very different. 

Fahima will be the sophisticated girl. This is a ''before'' picture and I will upload a picture of how she will look on the day of filming to show the difference, as with the rest of the girls. Fahima will be wearing glasses, have her her let down and straightened. The glasses will show she is intellectual. Her costume will be very smart, black trousers and a shirt. She will have books in her hand showing she is very driven and motivated to do well in her studies. Fahima's make up will be very minimal consisting of just mascara and a neutral colour lip gloss.

Milly will be the glamorous, risky, girly girl type of character. She will not be wearing headscarf as we will do her hair in loose curls, very volumised and big. She will be wearing very heavy eye make up, smoky eyes as well as wearing fake eyelashes to define her eyes. Her lips will be bright red but we will show a close up of this in the department store. This will show she takes great care and time on her appearance, as many girls do. Her nails will be painted pink and Milly will be wearing heels. Her costume is a lacy dress, showing she likes to take risks and look different to your typical Asian girl out there. Milly will be wearing really big earrings and have lots of  bangles on one arm, however the other hand will just be the friendship bracelet showing that although all these girls are different, look different, have different interests and hobbies, they have this close connection and bond like sisters. 

The final girl who will be in our opening is Aysha. She will be the sporty/ tomboyish one. She will not be wearing headscarf and her hair will be in a simple pony tail. Her costume is very boyish as it consits of tracksuit bottoms and a hoody. She will be wearing converse trainers which are very current. She will have a JD shoulder bag or a Just Do It bag. 

Her make up will also be minimal however she will look very nice. 


We as a group took quiet a while thinking about outfits and costume for the girls. This was very important as we are trying to break the stereo typical views of Asian girls, which is why none of the girls are going to be wearing headscarf. The girls are contrasting which we will be connoting through costume, however the way they act with eachother will show the closeness between the three. 

The friendship bracelet is very significant as in chick flicks a boy will always play a massive part. Although no one should get in the way of best friends, especially boys, here they will. 

The male actor who where going to have is going to be Ruhel. He is supposed to be the potential ''heart throb'' as he is good looking. Ruhel's costume is going to be very typical designer garments as boys love wearing. 

Also Ruhel has got dark under eyes, so we will be putting light foundation on him to give him that youthful essence and glow.
