Another adaption of using boris 3D

The colour red connotes romance which possibly could jeopardise the understanding of which genre we have chosen. However the font is very girly which helps achieve the understanding of a chick flick movie.

Using boris 3D

This is what I came up with, however this is not the finished product. I was just exploring and going through boris 3D to see what I can experiment with.

Evaluation of filming

 We made a film opening, of the genre being chick flick. The generic conventions of a chick flick is the location of a shopping mall/center due to the fact that all girls love to shop! Our film opening conformed to the generic conventions by;

  • making the setting in a shopping mall/center
  • romance/ chick flick
  • the actresses are all different but attractive in their own ways
  • each girl has a specific style and dress sense
  • the actor is a male teenage heart throb
Our film subverted the generic conventions of a chick flick by changing around the actor/actresses to make our film opening about difference in race and cultures as well. Our film opening represents social groups such as; women, youth, working class, middle class and genders. The ethnic minority of Asian Bengali boys and girls in the film opening has positive representations.

Successful Saturday :) 22.01.12

Saturday morning was the official filming day for the opening of 'He's Mine', Ayesha (sporty character), Mily (glamorous character), Farzana, visited Salma and Fahima's (sophisticated character) house to get costume and makeup sorted out. Farzana did the makeup for each character before everyone left to go to Westfield.

As all of our actress' and our actor had attended which was our main concern, we were relaxed to film and didn't experience as many problems as we thought we would have to face, we didn't have any problems with the weather as we checked the weather forecast before hand which said there wouldn't be any rain which helps establish the genre of the film which is chick-flick. However, unfortunately our original 'heart throb' character Ruhel was unable to make it, therefore we had a back-up character (Khurshed) to fit the part.

At first we had planned to film in Boots (pharmacy/makeup), or Superdrug (pharmacy/makeup) store. We had discussed with both store managers and we came to agreement of not letting us use either because due to us filming the store would become congested which is highly understandable. Alternatively we used Westfield toilet's, which is also suitable because girl's tend to go to the toilets to gossip, put makeup on ect.

Overall we were happy with the changes made as we had to make do with the situation and only learn from our mistakes.

Pictures and descriptions of filming on Saturday 21st January 2012 - SALMA

This was Milly in the morning without any make up or the clothes she was supposed to wear.

We filmed on Saturday. Samira was already there by 9.00am. Milly came and me (Salma) and Farzana got Milly ready for her role of the glamorous girl.
Farzana done her make up as she is very good at doing it. Milly has got extravagant long eye lashes on. We matched the description on the story board of what Milly was supposed to wear.
Milly had a choice of what shoes to wear, but we decided that she should go for the red pair due to the dress that she will be wearing. It matches and looks progative.
This is the finish product of the girl.

The next girl is Aysha who is the sporty one.
She is wearing a hoody and baggy jeans as well as converses.

The next girl is Fahima. She is the smart, sophisticated girl, however in this picture she is wearing headscarf, but in the opening, she will not be wearing headscarf because we wanted to break the stereo types of asian girls wearing the headscarf.

Originally we was supposed to use Ruhel as the heart throb but due to personal reasons Ruhel could not make it. However, luckily we had a back up - Khurshed who agreed to play the role as the initial heart throb.
We put some tinted foundation on Khurshed because he has spots and we didn't want it to appear on camera !

Here is the actor and actresses all together.
This is a picture I took while Farzana was filming the girls in the toilet.

Unfortunate Saturday 14.01.12

Sadly, due to a funeral that suddenly occurred on the day we attempted to film, our actor's and actress' couldn't show up to film our final work. Me, Salma and Farzana had prepared and booked all of our equipment; tripod, torch, the camera, and a backup tape. We had checked the weather forecast and it was sunny which would of been extremely beneficial for the opening.

We have arranged another date for friday to film, and we have arranged for a back up actor for the role of the 'heart throb', there is a possibility we will replace Ruhel with Khurshed who has been kind enough to volunteered for this character. We are being extremely precise of picking a certain day to film as we have chosen a unique setting (Stratford - Westfield) and we are on the look out for bright and sunny weather to suit the genre of chick flick.

We look forward to our official date of filming and we hope our changes are successful in order to create the film opening we are aspiring to produce.

What we attempted again at Westfield

We attempted to film our setting on 09/01/12 but the weather changed from what we checked the night before therefore the lighting was really gray and cloudy but still we filmed some shots as practice. Another problem we faced was that we wasn't too familiar with the tripod therefore the shots were really crooked. However, we have learnt how to use the tripod now and have decided to film tomorrow which is 14/01/12.

Weather Forecast - Saturday 21st January 2012

Tomorrows weather will be a tad cloudy. However, we can still film whatever needs to be done.

Saturday 7 January 2012

Schedule

Tuesday 20th December 2011 - First day when we went out to film the shots without the actors present, but I, Salma went up and down the stairs and we used that. We went West field and the equipment we needed was just the camera and tri-pod.

Saturday 24th December - Another day we was going to shoot the actual film opening, we got all the actors/actresses but we came across problems with the camera so unfortunately we could not film. The equipment we booked out was the camera, tri-pod, the actresses/ actors and props.

Monday 9th January - We will take establishing shots of the outside of Westfield to show the collection. We will meet outside Stratford station at 8:45am prompt.

Saturday 14th January 2012 - This is the day we done our actual filming. Everything more or less went to plan but instead of Ruhel, we used Khurshed. Similarly, we booked out the camera, tri-pod and the actor/ actresses and the props and costume they were designated to wear. Thankfully everything went according to plan this day, however I might've slightly overcharged the camera so we had to charge it whilst filming.

The problems we went through

There was a misunderstanding about the camera which lead us to not filming at all. Samira and I very excitedly borrowed the camera from Miss Georgiou and we were reassured that the camera is fine, we've got a new tape and everything is good to go. However, we were told my Miss that we needed to charge the camera so we were given the charger for it. I live closest to school so i took it home and charged it for abit. It was probably my fault that i didnt check fully if the camera is working but that is because usually camera's are supposed to be working because they are checked for any damages when returned to our teachers and this lead me to automatically thinking that everything is good. So, now i remember that when i did put it on charge, i didnt actually see the light flashing to show that its on charge but at the time it didnt occur to me because i was still made to believe that it is atually fine.
It was the day of filming and Samira, me and Salma met up to go to westfield and meet the rest of the team. We were all very excited and enthusiastic about filming, and out actor and actresses were keen to do a very great job. We got the tripod ready, and i tried to turn the camera on.. Samira noticed that i hadn't even put the fresh new tape inside so we attempted to do that. We opened the slot and waited for the automatic opening of it but nothing happened. The tape wouldnt even go in, there was no chance. To double check, we ran around the whole of westfield looking for a socket or a shop that would let us use their socket. We were declined by quite a few shops and this made us feel really de-motivated but with hope we carried on asking other shops.
Thankfully, phones4u let us and we were really pleased. We put the camera on charge but noticed this time the light hasnt even come on and thats when we knew that this camera is damaged, but not by us. We ended up taking it to curry's and pcworld to see if they can help. A very nice man took his time out to look at the camera and try different chargers but came back with the bad news of how this camera is broken. We were really dissappointed at this unfortunate day and told our actor and actressed that they can go home.

Everyone was really upset...

We have learnt from this that we should double-tripple check to see if the camera is working by making sure that it turns on and records.

We will hold another meeting with the team and decide on a new date for filming.
